Yushan Competition oolong
Yushan high mountain oolong tea is produced in Xin Yi Township, Nantou County, at an altitude of about 1800 meters. Due to the high mountain area, the cold air, the clouds and fog, and because the temperature can drop dramatically at night, the tea has a rich taste.
The dry tea leaves are beautiful verdant green pearls. Because this is a competition tea, we decided to remove all stems from the tea leaves. This extra step results in an even more beautiful tea than most high mountain oolong. Once rinsed, we can smell the sweet floral scent comes out from the teapot. In the first round, the tea soup is golden yellow color. A strong aroma of white sugar is now present. The first sip is impressive, this tea still keeps the high mountain flavor, but is not overly vegetal. It is like the breath of the forest, exceptionally smooth and pure. In the second round, the tea soup has become thicker and sweeter. Additionally, a noticeable, long-lasting Huigan (returning sweetness) has developed on the finish. In the third round, the flavor is stronger still. The predominant notes are those of orchids, white sugar, and chrysanthemums.
